Cambridge Senior Citizens News

Week of December 12, 2024

It's that time of year again when we're all busy preparing and shopping for the Christmas Season. It's also the time to remember our seniors who may be lonely, isolated or unable to participate or travel to festivities. A card, phone call or even better, an invitation to share your get-togethers would make a big difference to a lonely senior.

Cambridge Seniors invite you to visit our 5 Park Place Senior Center & Thrift Shop. We've decorated the Center and all our Christmas and other new merchandise is on display and available for purchase. We have a great assortment of Christmas decor, ornaments & wrappings, as well as necessary & useful cookware and tableware. Come see our selection of everyday and special occasion clothing, shoes, jewelry & accessories for the family. Our Wednesdays $5 Clothing Bag Sale runs through the holidays. You're welcome to visit weekdays from 10 to 2 and the first & third Saturdays of December.

Cambridge Seniors members have planned to bring a Christmas "Sing-a-Long" to the Cambridge Hotel on Tuesday December 10th followed by our December monthly dinner on Wednesday December 11th at Kevin's in North Hoosick. Our Christmas Party will be held Friday, December 20th and we will be sharing members' donations of appetizers and snacks and a $10 grab bag. This year we have extended an invitation to Greenwich Seniors to join our party. Our membership drive is in full swing and all local seniors are invited to join. An annual membership is still only $12. That's only $1 per month! A Membership to the Cambridge Senior Citizens makes a great gift for your favorite senior friends, neighbor or family member. Call us at 518-677-8592 for more information or to purchase a gift membership

Local County seniors, members or not, are welcome to join us for lunch at noon on weekdays. Why cook when you can enjoy a hot, healthy and tasty meal along with friendship and good conversation. Maybe you'd like to stay a while and play cards , Bingo, work a puzzle or watch a movie. You can just "hang out" if you prefer. A $3 donation for the meal, if you can, is suggested. Important! You must reserve your eat in or take out meal by 1 p.m. the day before.

Once again, we stress the importance of remembering our seniors at this time of the year. Senior clubs are an important resource for senior men & women to enjoy age-related activities and friendship in a local, safe environment. Volunteers are always needed in the Thrift Shop and to plan trips & activities. Bring your talents and ideas to share with the group. Bring a friend with you. Everyone is welcome!!
